Machno United welcomed Rhyl Athletic Football Club today, in a match that proved to be all one way traffic right from the off! Kev Owen was first to make the score sheet as Dan Roberts’ through-ball pass found Luke Roberts who then flicked it to Kev Owen, who calmly placed it into the net! 1-0 to the home side! And it wasn’t long before the mighty yellows made it 2-0 with Matt Mullender’s corner kick finding the head of captain Owen ‘the poacher’ Davis! 2-0 Machno! Dan Roberts linked up again with Kev Owen with another slick through-ball, Kev Owen had no problem in sealing his second finish of the day. 3-0 Machno! Matt Mullender proved to be a key player in today’s clash as he bagged himself a shed load of assists as another of his precise corner kicks finds a Machno head, this time Dan Roberts get his name down on the score sheet! 4-0 Machno! Soon after it was Kev Owens turn to play the ball through to Luke Roberts who slips it past the keeper to make it 5-0!!!

Even though Rhyl were playing downhill with the wind at their backs, this first half surely was an uphill struggle, to which they just could not cope. The yellows looked sharp, confident and they were first to every ball, and the second half was to be no different! As the second half got underway, Rhyl Athletic managed to create a couple of chances forcing keeper Jo Owen to make several impressive saves including an almost cat like pounce to divert the ball over the bar, a save even Schmeichel would have been proud of! Machno were soon to respond to Rhyl eventually turning up to the game when Kev Owen chipped the keeper to make it 6-0!!!

Super veteran Ian ‘Tyson’ Hughes received a smash to the face from a Rhyl player’s stud, and reluctantly left the field to receive treatment, but not even a gash on the forehead could stop this machine of a man from re-entering the game! (See image)
Super duo Owen and Roberts upfront came together like butter on toast as they once again raped the Rhyl defence and the keeper, as Roberts chips the keeper, 7-0!!

Matt Mullender again is the key setup man, this time with a throw-in, which finds Kev Owen at the other side of the box, and as ever, he smashes it home as he’s left undefended!! 8-0 to the Yellows!! But Rhyl didn’t go away completely empty handed, a well struck free kick made it to the back of the net, a consolation goal at best made it 8-1!! It’s Ben Mullender this time that played a through ball into Kev Owens runway, who then ran it 30 yards, and even past the keeper and finishes it at an almost impossible angle!! 9-1 Machno!!

A sloppy piece of defending cost Rhyl a goal in the closing minutes of the game as Luke Roberts nicks the ball off the defence and then swings it into the box, and who is there to meet it? Kev Owen of course! Smashes it home, 10-1!! Luke Roberts clearly hasn’t had enough, as he secures his hat-trick as he finds his way through a mad scramble in the box making it 11-1!!!

And if that wasn’t enough, Matt Mullender’s cross, finds Kev Owen who finishes it with a volley making it his 7th goal of the day and machno’s 12th, earning himself a well deserved man of the match!

Machno look on to secure another 3 points in two weeks time against Bro Cernyw FC!
